How to Sign "I need to restart my computer" in Sign Language

How many times have you overloaded your desktop with endless open tabs and applications and had to force a restart to continue your day? We’ve all been there, we get it! Now, you’ve got a way to let your Deaf or hard-of-hearing colleague, teammate, or classmate know that you have to do that restart without leaving them hanging in the dust!

Signing “I need to restart my computer”

  1. Signing "I": Point to yourself with your index finger.
  2. Signing “Need”: Using your index finger on your dominant finger, shape it like a hook or “X” and bring it to in front of your chest. Bring your index finger down a couple of times, emphasizing depending on how badly you need to do something.
  3. Signing “Re-start”: Sign “R” “E.” Then place your non-dominant hand in an “open 5” handshape, with the palm facing your dominant hand. Using your dominant hand in a “1” handshape, stick your index finger in between the index and middle finger of your non-dominant hand, and twist, as if starting a car.
  4. Signing “My”: Place your dominant hand in an “open 5” handshape and lay across the middle of you chest.
  5. Signing “Computer”: Using your dominant hand, form a “C” handshape. Tap it against your forehead with your thumb touching your forehead.
  6. Signing “I”: Point to yourself with your index finger.
