How to Sign "How was your weekend?" in Sign Language

Another quintessential small talk opener for any meeting! Whether you're genuinely curious or just want to avoid getting straight into business, this is a great phrase to know how to sign to chat with your Deaf or hard-of-hearing co-worker.

Signing "How was your weekend?"

  1. Your: Using your dominant hand in a closed "5" position, face your palm towards the person you are talking to
  2. Weekend: Using both hands in a closed "5" position, place your non-dominant hand in front of your chest, palm facing your body. With your dominant hand, slide the palm along the top of the non-dominant hand until it falls off
  3. Good: Using your dominant hand in a closed "5" position, start by touching your chin and extending your hand out in front of your body
  4. Bad: Using your dominant hand in a closed "5" position, start by touching your chin and then extend your hand out in front of your body with the palm facing outward
  5. Which-one?: Using both hands in a "thumbs-up" position, bring your dominant hand upward first, then bring your non-dominant hand, going back and forth

Note

While you can certainly sign HOW YOUR WEEKEND in sign language, this way of signing may be more intuitive to sign language composition.
