How to Sign “Garage” in Sign Language

This sign represents opening the door to the garage and driving in or out of it. You can also use this sign to refer to any type of enclosed parking space for vehicles.

Signing “Garage”

  1. Hand shape: Dominant hand: “3” handshape. Non-dominant hand: Closed “5” handshape.
  2. Hand location: Bring both hands in front of your body, below chest level. Place your non-dominant “5” palm facing down. Bring your dominant “3” underneath your non-dominant hand.
  3. Movement: Move your dominant hand back and forth under your non-dominant hand, as if moving a car in a garage.
  4. Facial expression: Keep a neutral facial expression.
