How to Sign “Door” in Sign Language

Metaphorical or physical, here’s how to sign door. When talking about an open or closed door, you can refer to this sign and move your hands accordingly.

Signing “Door”

  1. Hand shape: Form both hands into “closed 5” handshapes.
  2. Hand location: Bring both hands in front of your body with palms facing away from your body, fingers up. Place your hands next to each other, index fingers touching.
  3. Movement: Sweep your dominant hand back and forth twice, symbolizing a door opening and closing.
  4. Facial expression: Keep a neutral facial expression.
